The vice president, spokesperson and counselor for Employment, Enterprise and Innovation, Cristina Teniente, has made an institutional visit to Zafra, where she has announced the opening of a Business Activation Point (PAE) in this municipality, throughout this year, and the project for the renovation of the meat pavilion of the fairgrounds.
Accompanied by the secretary general of Employment, Entrepreneurial Activity and Technological Innovation, Sergio Velázquez, the vice president has held a working meeting with the mayor of Zafra, Gloria Pons, in which these two “important agreements” for the town have been closed.
At a press conference after the meeting, Lieutenant said that the future Zafra PAE will be the sixth center of this type in the region, adding to those already in operation in Merida, Cáceres, Badajoz, Don Benito and Plasencia, and has added that with the Segedana locality “in principle, the Extremadura network of Business Activation Points is closed”.
It will work, like the rest of PAE, as a space in which all the resources that the regional Administration puts at the disposal of companies and entrepreneurs are concentrated.
Thus, the citizens of Zafra and the southern area of the province of Badajoz can access through this center to general guidance services on the implementation of business projects, meetings for the development of business plans or viability, information and advice on public aid, procedures and internationalization consultations.
The owner from Extremadura of Employment, Business and Innovation has highlighted that since the opening of the first office, the one in Mérida in May 2012, the PAE network has served almost 7,000 users and has processed the creation of 522 companies, 456 of them as self-employed, the regional government informs in a press release.
On the other hand, the vice president has announced that the regional government will sign an agreement with the city to develop the project that will renew the pavilion of the exhibition grounds.
“It was a vindication for many years and now, finally, we are going to start work to answer it,” he said in this regard, stressing that for the Government of Extremadura the International Livestock Fair Zafra “is an emblem and has to serve as a driving axis of an agri-food industry in the area, of the dynamism of this area linked to the industrial sector and the agri-food sector “.
The meeting that Cristina Teniente has held with the mayor of Zafra has also served to analyze the situation of the town and government projects that are underway in this municipality.
New transportation center
In this sense, the vice president has stressed that the “commitment” of the Government of Extremadura with this city has been evident with actions such as investments in the Hospital de Zafra, of “almost 700,000 euros”, and has stated that the announcement of the last Council of Extraordinary Government to build a new transport center in this municipality “is already a reality”, because “the project is already done and the work is going to be tendered in the coming months”.
In his speech, the vice president has highlighted the “magnificent economic management” that has been carried out in this town, which has achieved “reduce the debt by two million euros” and “move from a livestock fair with deficit to a fair that has been in surplus for three consecutive years “.
He also stressed that last year “created net employment” in Zafra, “with an increase in social security affiliations of 78 people and a decrease of 55 unemployed.” “A change in the trend that we can not waste but rather, on the contrary, support concrete actions to consolidate in 2014,” said Teniente.
Visit to the company segeda
On the occasion of her institutional visit to Zafra, the vice president visited the company Segeda, dedicated to the manufacture of drilling machinery for quarries and civil works, which she considered “an example of what can be done betting on innovation and internationalization and using the tools that the Autonomous Administration puts at your disposal “.
Thus, he referred to Segeda’s commitment to exports and the participation of this company in the innovation programs ‘Dime’ and ‘Impulsa’, which are two initiatives of the regional government, through Extremadura Avante, for the training of agents of innovation in companies and the launching of performances of technological innovation or competitive improvement of low cost and great impact in SMEs.
